It breeds in southern parts of eastern Europe and centralAsia and winters mainly in India and southeast Asia. This was taken from Kudajadri top, one of the high hill station in Karnataka, India. Had to walk a few kilometres to the mountain top to get the eye-level angle of this shot.

The Yellow-wattled Lapwing (Vanellus malabaricus) is a lapwing that is endemic to the Indian Subcontinent. It is found mainly on the dry plains of peninsular India and has a sharp call and is capable of fast flight. They are not so common in Kerala but are found as resident to some localities.
